It’s been all-go over at The/Poetry/Fold and in terms of my own writing & research.

Here’s the news:

The latest October issue of The/Fold has been released into the world and if you don’t already subscribe you can do so by clicking here. It’s free. It’s inspirational. And truth be told, I am pretty darn proud of it.

My new Songbursts blog is now showing at the Mslexia web site. Being relatively new to blogging I wasn’t sure what would happen writing about music in such a short form but I am really enjoying it. The most recent is about Laura Veirs and I am working on the next post now. Visit Mslexia’s site and have a look.

Some great news is that I will be travelling to Edinburgh for a month as a Visiting Fellow at the Genomics Forum based at Edinburgh University. I will be working with other academics and artists on a Photo-Poetry research/creative project exploring Genomics and Post Genomics. It’s a real honour to be visiting the Forum and I am looking forward to exploring the atmospheric streets – when I’m not working, of course.

My third poetry collection, The Line (working title), is going well and almost ready to be released into the world. All I need now is a publisher.

And my CPD practice is going from strength to strength. The work is demanding and challenging but it’s a real privilege to witness how professionals in other sectors and academics from other disciplines use words and language. And to feel like I am doing some good while developing professional relationships with all kinds of people is exactly why I set The/Poetry/Fold up in the first place.

That’s it for now.

My new creative writing business The/Poetry/Fold launched last month (in the middle of June 2011) and already the response has been phenomenal. I have met loads of great new people working in the arts and education sectors and have re-connected with a lot of old friends and colleagues from my Mslexia and ProudWords days. The/Poetry/Fold has been some 12 years in the making and I am really proud of it. Watch this space for news, updates and bits and bobs about what’s going on.

For years I’ve been wanting to listen to music of my own choice while I swim.

I open a Twitter account in May 2011 and who should get in touch but a manufacturer in Australia! Since then I have invested in a waterproof iPod Shuffle. My plan over the summer is to swim lengths to a variety of playlists. Who knows where that will lead…watch this space.
